Agility Selects Nyobolt Fast-Charging for Digit 5
Agility Robotics has chosen Nyobolt to provide an ultra-fast charging battery system for the Digit 5 humanoid, aiming to enable more than 20 hours of daily work.

Power Management and the Digit 5 Partnership
One of the primary challenges that humanoid robot designers face is power management. Addressing this hurdle, Agility Robotics Inc. announced that it is working with Nyobolt on a fast-recharge battery system for its Digit 5 system. According to the companies, the integrated technology will allow the robot to work more than 20 hours in a single day.
Daniel Diez, chief business officer at Agility, emphasized that uptime is the core of the business case for customers. He noted that Digit 5 will deliver more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour day, which spans more than two full shifts. Diez stated that Nyobolt's ultra-fast charging technology helps achieve this milestone, making the system ready for full-scale operation.
Background on Agility and Recent Developments
Founded in 2015, Salem, Oregon-based Agility describes Digit as the first multi-purpose, human-centric robot made for work and commercially deployed today. The company reported that it has accumulated more than 65,000 hours of real-world operations. Last month, Agility released Digit 5 with new legs and acknowledged that it is also exploring wheeled locomotion options.
Agility described Digit 5 as its first humanoid robot designed to work safely in close proximity to people and at scale. The platform is intended to strengthen the company's value proposition for various commercial sectors.
Nyobolt's Battery Innovations and Valuation
Founded in 2019, Cambridge, U.K.-based Nyobolt combines proprietary anode materials, advanced battery cell design, and integrated power electronics to achieve fast charging, high power density, reduced weight, and extended lifecycles. The company explains that its technology is designed to support demanding industrial applications and minimize downtime.
Nyobolt maintains that its patent portfolio and global footprint support AI datacenters, physical AI, and mobility applications while simultaneously lowering the total cost of ownership. In May 2026, Nyobolt reached a $1 billion valuation after raising $60 million in funding with support from backers including Symbotic Inc.
Technical Specs and Performance Improvements
Sai Shivareddy, co-founder and CEO of Nyobolt, noted that Digit 5 requires higher power output from a smaller, lighter pack in environments where operational reliability is critical. He stated that Agility set an exceptionally high standard for battery endurance in live warehouse and manufacturing conditions.
The new battery system integrated into Digit 5 provides 90 minutes of runtime and charges in just nine minutes. This results in a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, marking a significant improvement over Digit 4's 2:1 ratio. Agility stated that this enhanced performance will support more demanding task sequences across warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operations.
Timeline and Future Outlook
Agility expects that early access to Digit 5 units equipped with Nyobolt's technology will begin in the first half of 2027. Full availability is slated to increase over the subsequent six to nine months.
Alongside hardware updates, Agility has been preparing for corporate transitions, including plans to go public through a merger with special-purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp XI. The company also continues to participate in industry events, such as RoboBusiness 2026.
