Apple has officially introduced the iPhone Duo, marking the tech giant's entry into the foldable smartphone category. Beginning Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. PT, customers can pre-order the new device directly on apple.com and in the Apple Store app.
The release brings a completely fresh form factor to Apple's lineup, combining a pocketable outer screen with a massive internal display designed to handle demanding workflows, multitasking, and immersive entertainment. The core engineering achievement of the iPhone Duo centers on its dual-screen configuration. When opened, it functions as the thinnest iPhone ever created, housing an inner display that is 50 percent larger than the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This expansive canvas is built to support Split View multitasking, gaming, and seamless app switching.
When closed, the 5.4-inch outer display provides 90 percent of the screen area found on the iPhone 18 Pro, delivering a compact and easily pocketable profile. The hardware utilizes a precision-engineered hinge built to ensure a smooth, durable feel during everyday folding and unfolding actions. For durability, the device carries an IP68 rating for splash, water, and dust resistance, and is offered in two colors: star white and night sky.

Underneath the chassis, the iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip, delivering pro-grade processing capabilities suited for intensive applications. To support the demands of dual screens and high-performance tasks, Apple integrated a dual-battery architecture designed to achieve impressive all-day battery life.
The hardware is complemented by software adaptations. The device can enter StandBy mode on either the inner or outer display even when unplugged, transforming the screen into a digital photo frame, clock, or interactive widget hub. Furthermore, the interface dynamically reorients as the device folds, turns, or flips.

The unique foldable layout enables versatile new camera experiences. The rear assembly features a 48MP Fusion Main camera engineered for sharp imaging with zero shutter lag, alongside an integrated optical-quality 2x Telephoto lens. A 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera supports wider fields of view and macro photography.
For selfies and video communication, a Center Stage front camera automatically adjusts across different orientations without requiring users to manually rotate the phone.
