Variable Aperture Support on iPhone 18 Pro

The standout hardware integration in version 2.4 is native support for the iPhone 18 Pro. Users can now harness the capabilities of the new Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, marking Apple's introduction of physical aperture control to the iPhone platform.

With this update, creators can precisely dial in their preferred aperture settings or opt for shutter priority and aperture priority modes. Furthermore, the software unlocks Cinematic mode effects for regular video footage—including recordings captured in ProRes and Apple Log—allowing professionals to adjust focus points and depth of field later during editing in Final Cut Pro.

Advanced Production Tools with iOS 27

Coinciding with the release of iOS 27, Final Cut Camera introduces several high-end monitoring and broadcast capabilities. Creators can now utilize professional video scopes, such as the RGB Parade and histogram, to carefully verify color balance and exposure channels.

For live workflows, clean SDI out enables users to transmit a pristine video signal through an HDMI-to-SDI converter for broadcast-grade streaming. Meanwhile, genlock offset allows directors and operators to compensate for potential image artifacts originating from recorded displays or to synchronize latency differences between the iPhone and other genlocked cameras on set.
