Samsung Health Updates Sleep Coaching and Running Programs
Samsung Electronics has announced a major update to the Samsung Health application, introducing easier entry requirements for sleep management, weekly adaptive guidance, and expanded running programs.

Easier Access to Sleep Coaching
Samsung Electronics has announced a significant update to the Samsung Health application aimed at helping users build lasting, healthier routines. Among the primary changes is a lowered data requirement to begin utilizing Sleep Coaching, making it quicker and easier for individuals to start managing their nighttime habits.
Previously requiring seven days of data within a month, users can now initiate the coaching program with just three days of data captured within the past two weeks. During setup, participants complete a survey regarding their sleep regularity, interruptions, caffeine and alcohol intake, and overall subjective sleep satisfaction.
Personalized Weekly Guidance and Insights
With survey responses and three days of initial sleep data, the app assigns a personalized Sleep Animal symbol and constructs a tailored four- to eight-week coaching program. The system is designed to dynamically adapt its weekly recommendations as user patterns shift, tracking daily sleep satisfaction and lifestyle changes over time.
The updated experience introduces a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph that consolidates five core sleep indicators: sleep time, sleep regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction, and Energy Score. This visualization works alongside morning insight messages and final reports to provide users with a comprehensive view of their daily and weekly sleep trends.
Expanded Running Programs and Strava Integration
In response to the growing popularity of running among fitness enthusiasts, the Running Coach feature has received a substantial upgrade to deliver a more dynamic training experience. Training tiers have been expanded from 10 to 12 levels to support intermediate and advanced runners looking to set higher benchmarks.
Furthermore, the update introduces enhanced social media sharing capabilities, allowing runners to export workout data into share-ready templates. Through a partnership with global fitness platform Strava, users can also import their favorite routes for running, trail running, and cycling directly into the ecosystem.
Ecosystem Connectivity and Rollout
Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company's commitment to everyday wellness. "Samsung Health’s personalized coaching empowers users to understand their health data, taking a step toward supporting everyday wellness," Pak stated, noting that the company will continue leveraging the Galaxy ecosystem to build a trusted health platform.
The newly upgraded features are scheduled to roll out progressively via application updates starting in October. Compatibility requirements specify that certain features are available on supported versions of the app paired with eligible devices, while availability and exact timing may vary depending on market and model conditions.
