Jabra Enhance Select M3 Review: High Price, Small Wins

A Fresh Lineup for Over-the-Counter Audio

Direct-to-consumer hearing aid manufacturer Jabra has completely overhauled its product portfolio by retiring its previous-generation models, including the Jabra Enhance Select 700, 500, 300, and 50R. In their place, the company launched three new over-the-counter devices: the M3, M2, and M1.

While the physical designs and general form factors remain closely tied to older generations, the modifications are primarily internal. All three models weigh roughly 2.12 grams depending on the selected ear tip. However, the M3 stands out slightly by measuring a few millimeters shorter than its siblings and offering an exclusive red color option not available for the M2 and M1.

Exclusive SoundScape Capabilities on the M3

The flagship M3 introduces unique capabilities powered by Jabra's SoundScape audio enhancement system. These exclusive additions feature a revamped autofocus tool designed to lock onto speech in noisy environments such as restaurants, alongside an advanced adaptive listening mode meant to respond in real time to shifting surroundings.

Testing indicates that while the autofocus feature effectively maintains clean dialog even when conversation partners move in a circle around the user, the adaptive environmental modes offer limited utility. Manually tweaking levels and keeping the device in an "all around" mode generally yields a better overall hearing experience.

Audio Performance and Bluetooth Streaming

In quiet settings, such as one-on-one conversations or watching television, the M3 delivers near-perfect clarity. Maintaining volume levels around 30 percent helps maximize hearing improvement while minimizing background hiss, which tends to increase as volume rises. Bluetooth streaming supports Auracast broadcasts, though general streaming audio quality for music and movies remains washed out at lower volumes and easily disrupted by ambient noise.

App Support, Battery Life, and Pricing

Jabra maintains its established customer service model, offering buyers three years of access to on-staff audiologists who perform live tuning adjustments over video chat. The built-in self-test system also allows users to generate an audiogram from scratch within minutes.

The charging case continues to provide three full recharges, while the hearing aids themselves comfortably exceed their specified 24-hour battery life, reaching closer to 26 hours during testing. Launch pricing for the top-tier device starts at $1,995 at Jabra, matching previous generations, though buyers often find historical discounts or coupons over time.
