Intel and Oracle Plan Expanded Collaboration on OCI
Intel and Oracle have announced plans for a multiyear collaboration to expand Intel Xeon-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, targeting enterprise applications and agentic AI workloads.

Expanding OCI Capabilities for Agentic AI
At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, Intel and Oracle announced plans for a multiyear collaboration intended to expand Intel Xeon-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). As announced by the [Intel Newsroom](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/corporate/intel-oracle-collaborate-on-enterprise-and-agentic-ai.html), the initiative is designed to meet the growing demand for enterprise applications, agentic AI, and inference across current and future Xeon platforms.
As more enterprises deploy AI agents at scale, central processing units are increasingly viewed as critical for executing applications, managing data movement, orchestrating agentic actions, and supporting inference across existing business systems. The expanded collaboration is intended to provide additional capacity and processor capabilities while allowing customers to retain familiar software environments and operational tooling.
Focus on Diamond Rapids and Future Xeon Platforms
The planned collaboration spans current platforms as well as future iterations, including planned OCI X14 offerings expected to be based on Intel's next-generation server processor codenamed Diamond Rapids. Building on a decades-long relationship, both companies intend to coordinate roadmaps and processor capacity planning to support OCI's ongoing expansion.
Planned Diamond Rapids-based OCI X14 offerings are expected to introduce advances in both AI acceleration and general-purpose computing. These include enhanced Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions with FP8, FP16, and BF16 support for optimized inference software, alongside Intel Advanced Performance Extensions to help optimized applications execute with reduced instruction overhead.
Executive Perspectives on Enterprise AI Integration
Commenting on the partnership, Kevork Kechichian, executive vice president and general manager of the Intel Data Center Group, stated that as AI agents scale, they require processors capable of running software, moving and securing data, and accelerating inference. He noted that Xeon combines performance and hardware-based confidential computing to offer organizations a trusted foundation for AI at scale.
Pradeep Vincent, executive vice president of compute and AI infrastructure at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, emphasized that enterprise AI depends heavily on the applications, data, and tools necessary for an agent to complete useful work. Vincent highlighted that the expanded collaboration with Intel is intended to grow compute capacity and bring enhanced Xeon capabilities to OCI through X14, providing customers with a reliable path to build and scale AI.
Architecture and Cost Management on OCI
Current OCI Xeon-based offerings pair Intel compute with built-in AI acceleration, flexible CPU and memory configurations, and Oracle Acceleron networking. This technological setup allows organizations to tailor application services, data processing, and agent execution to their specific needs while scaling each component independently from the accelerators serving larger models.
By maintaining independent scaling capabilities, customers can more accurately match resources to each distinct stage of an AI workflow. This flexibility is intended to assist organizations in managing overall application costs as they embed generation, reranking, and smaller-model inference alongside traditional application services.
