Microsoft Reveals Azure Quarterly Revenue in Dollars at $33.2B
For the first time, Microsoft has disclosed Azure's quarterly revenue in actual dollars, revealing a strong performance that brings it closer to market competitors.

Azure Revenue Revealed in Dollars
Historically, Microsoft has never disclosed Azure’s quarterly revenue in dollars, typically limiting its public metrics to growth percentages or vague milestones. However, during another record-breaking quarter, it was reported that Azure brought in a healthy $33.2 billion in revenue for the July-September quarter, marking an increase of 48% from a year earlier.
This dollar-figure disclosure allows investors and market analysts to align Azure’s performance more directly against competitors like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, both of which traditionally report their cloud revenues in exact dollar amounts on a quarterly basis.
Cloud Competition and Market Standings
Alphabet also released its earnings figures, revealing that Google Cloud brought in $30.7 billion during the same timeframe. This places Azure slightly ahead of Google Cloud in absolute quarterly revenue. Nevertheless, Google Cloud roughly doubled its revenue compared to the previous year, demonstrating a growth rate approximately twice as fast as Azure according to recent market calculations.
Amazon is scheduled to report its earnings shortly. While Amazon Web Services has historically maintained its position as the largest cloud provider in the market, the transparency brought by these dollar-figure disclosures intensifies the competitive race across the cloud computing sector.
Exceeding Analyst Expectations
The newly reported Azure revenue surpassed market projections significantly, coming in about $850 million higher than the $32.3 billion analysts expected. Furthermore, Azure’s 48% year-over-year growth rate exceeded the 44% to 45% range previously forecast by Microsoft CFO Amy Hood during an earnings call.
Within Microsoft's internal structure, Azure serves as a platform where businesses rent computing power to execute applications, Software-as-a-Service, and to build and run artificial intelligence models. By the company's own accounting, it is now Microsoft's largest and fastest-growing product line.
Restructured Business Segments
The Azure platform is now housed within Agents and Infra, which represents one of two new business segments introduced by Microsoft. Previously, Microsoft reported across three distinct categories: Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing. The newly formed Agents and Infra segment, which bundles Azure alongside Microsoft 365’s cloud business, brought in $76.8 billion, representing a 25% increase from the prior year.
Overall, the quarterly revenue figures underscore the massive scale of enterprise cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence integration, with Azure accounting for roughly 36% of Microsoft’s total $92.3 billion in quarterly revenue.
