Improvements to the Favorites Tab

Google Home is getting a fresh update that introduces notable changes to how users interact with their most-used devices. For many users, the Favorites tab accounts for the vast majority of interactions with the application. According to details shared by 9to5Google, this month's changelog indicates that instability issues encountered while dragging and dropping tiles across the Favorites view have been resolved.

The latest software revision aims to make managing the primary dashboard significantly smoother. Users who previously experienced frustration trying to organize their primary interface can now rearrange their preferred hardware much more reliably.

Gemini Voice Command Fixes

While manual interface controls receive adjustments, voice interactions powered by artificial intelligence are also seeing targeted upgrades. Voice control features powered by Gemini that really needs some attention within Home have been a focal point for recent troubleshooting and software patches.

Google states that a batch of fixes is rolling out to improve how Gemini functions within the smart home ecosystem. Among these adjustments are more reliable 'stop' commands designed to prevent misinterpretations, alongside easier-to-read answers presented on smart displays.

Furthermore, the update introduces more natural ways to halt active conversations with the AI assistant. Users can now quickly end an ongoing chat by simply saying "thank you" to cease talking and close the microphone automatically.

Audio and Weather Enhancements

Additional updates to the assistant capabilities involve smarter audio differentiation. The system is now better equipped to distinguish between relaxing music and ambient sounds, ensuring more accurate playback handling.

Weather reporting has also been refined as part of the software rollout. The platform now maintains consistent temperature units for weather details based explicitly on the preferences configured within the user's personal settings.

Third-Party Controls and Interface Updates

Beyond assistant adjustments, the application update delivers modifications to external hardware integration and general user interface elements. Redesigned controls have been introduced for third-party smart home devices to streamline everyday automation tasks.

Other notable additions include large smoke alarm banners that feature precise event time information for enhanced home safety monitoring. On Android devices, users will notice a more responsive progress bar when scrubbing through paused video content.

Additionally, the software brings Matter control support for Philips Hue lights that utilize existing bridges, broadening cross-platform hardware compatibility within the ecosystem.
