Peak Arrives on Consoles Alongside New Indie Games

Steam Next Fest Highlights and Demo Releases

Much of the gaming community's attention this week remains centered on Steam Next Fest, an ongoing event that features thousands of playable demos and runs until Monday, as detailed in the latest indie roundup.

Among the titles featured during the event is Emberville, which now has its entire prologue available for players to dive into ahead of its full launch on October 27, carrying over progress made in the demo.

Players are also exploring the FMV life simulator Golden Retriever Simple Life, where users care for a dog named Pichu through feeding, petting, and training during a week of in-game time ahead of its full release in February.

Peak Expands to Consoles After Massive Steam Success

One of the prominent indie hits from the previous year, the co-op climbing game Peak, has expanded its reach to modern consoles. Developed through a collaboration between Aggro Crab and Landfall, the game challenges players to ascend mountains featuring layouts that change every day.

Peak is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 for $10, following its initial debut on Steam where it sold more than 23 million copies. Developer Nick Kaman noted that the team doubled the amount of content in the game since its initial release, leading to the slight price adjustment for the console editions.

Tape to Tape Leaves Early Access

Developer Excellent Rectangle has brought Tape to Tape out of early access on Steam and onto consoles including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch. The arcade hockey roguelite allows players to unlock abilities and upgrades while attempting to stop a team of evil golfers.

The full release incorporates upgraded audio and visuals, a revamped campaign, and improved gameplay mechanics alongside support for up to 10 local players in cooperative sessions.

Recent digital showcases, including presentations from ID@Xbox and Critical Reflex, have brought forth numerous release dates and game reveals. The ID@Xbox Showcase confirmed upcoming console release dates such as Mouthwashing on October 29 and A Game About Digging A Hole Together on December 4.

Meanwhile, the Critical Reflex Time showcase introduced fresh titles including the surreal dimension-hopping RPG amFM and Keykruncher, a survival game where characters must eat keyboards.

Horror and Looter Shooter Additions

In time for the Halloween season, Critical Reflex announced and released the free psychological horror game Cucina Stellata, set in the 19th-century Italian countryside. The title features a cooking mechanic alongside an optional supporter pack containing real-world recipes.

Additionally, Pigeons at Play and publisher Devolver Digital brought their Moebius-inspired co-op looter shooter Mycopunk out of early access on Steam with a PlayStation 5 release, offering fast-paced action against a spreading fungal infection.
