Google Play adds personal library for vibe-coded apps
Google Play is rolling out a new personal library feature to help users access, install, and manage their AI-generated apps directly on their devices.

Google Play Embraces Vibe-Coded Apps
Google has announced a significant update to the [Google Play Store] that brings support for AI-generated applications built using Google AI Studio. Since May, creators have been able to generate Android apps and deploy them to their phones using ADB. The latest update takes this a step further by allowing users to launch personal apps directly on their own devices through the app store client.
Rather than forcing users through tedious APK file downloads or requiring them to tinker with a developer console, the new workflow provides a direct pipeline from AI Studio into the Play Store. This functionality is rolling out starting in the US and select other markets.

Personal Library and Private Sharing
At the core of this rollout is a new 'Your personal library' section. This area lets users access their custom apps across multiple devices, offering an easy restore and installation experience. By default, these applications remain secure, private, and entirely separate from the public store catalog.
Google also plans to let creators privately share their generated apps with a small group of users, such as friends and family. While these private creations do not initially undergo standard review, Google intends to offer an onboarding path in the future that will allow creators to transition their projects into professional releases.
Graduating to Professional Developer Accounts
For creators who want to take their experimental projects further, Google Play will provide an option to transition. Users will be able to graduate to a professional developer account, subject to the same Trust & Safety reviews and high-quality standards applied to traditional developers.
As Sam Bright, Google's vice president and general manager of Google Play, notes in the announcement, the capability serves as an effective on-ramp for fledgling developers looking to share their creations with a broader audience.

Expanded AI Discovery and Game Finder
Alongside the vibe-coding updates, the Play Store is expanding its AI-powered features. The Ask Play chatbot interface, initially launched in 2025, is growing into a more comprehensive search tool that can generate app recommendations and detailed comparison charts. Gemini is also expected to roll out similar capabilities soon.
Additionally, Google introduced Game Finder, a recommendation engine built on usage insights from billions of players. Game Finder establishes a 'Gamer DNA' profile based on user preferences and shared feedback, helping users find games tailored to their exact tastes while introducing curated game playlists and trending titles.
