Starting this Friday, iPhone Duo users can discover amazing apps and games optimized for the first foldable iPhone. From streaming and gaming to creativity and productivity, developers worldwide are taking advantage of the unique capabilities of the device, which features an inner display 50 percent larger than iPhone 18 Pro Max. Because both displays share the same aspect ratio, apps transition smoothly from the outer display to the inner display and scale proportionally. “The response to iPhone Duo from our developer community has been incredible, and we’re inspired by how quickly they’ve embraced its larger display and new ways to interact,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. New editorial collections for iPhone Duo apps and games will go live on the App Store this Friday, marked with a Made for iPhone Duo badge.
Enhanced Entertainment and Streaming Experiences
The larger display on iPhone Duo turns every show, movie, and match into a big-screen moment that fits in a pocket. Netflix members can scroll through Clips on the outer display and open iPhone Duo to keep watching on the large nano-texture inner display, with clips switching seamlessly between vertical and horizontal views.
“People watch Netflix in all kinds of moments, and we built our new experience to move with them,” said Tom Richards, Netflix’s senior director of Engineering. Additional streaming services, including Prime Video and Paramount+, are also utilizing the larger canvas for movies and series.
With Prime Video, streaming content plays on the top half of the display when partially folded, while X-Ray details appear on the bottom half. Paramount+ offers richer playback controls and expanded browsing, allowing users to prop the device open on a table to enjoy content hands-free.
Immersive Sports and Live Coverage
Sports fans can follow MLB and PGA Tour with live games, highlights, real-time scores, stats, and leaderboards on the expanded display. When the device is set on a table partially folded, the live game plays on the upright half while real-time stats fill the lower half.
“This incredible device unlocks a fun, versatile way to experience baseball from anywhere, and we’re grateful to have worked with Apple to ensure the app is ready for the World Series,” said Kenny Gersh, MLB’s executive vice president of Media, Business Development, and Product.
Pricing, Availability, and Services
iPhone Duo is available in star white and night sky, starting at $1,999 (U.S.), or $83.29 (U.S.) per month for 24 months, in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities. Eligible customers in the U.S. can also utilize Apple Upgrade for monthly payment options.
Customers in more than 70 countries and regions can pre-order iPhone Duo now, with availability beginning Friday, October 23, followed by 28 other countries and regions on Friday, October 30. AppleCare plans deliver service and support with flexible options for protecting devices against accidents.
Additionally, iCloud+ plans start at $0.99 (U.S.) per month to keep photos, files, and backups safe, while new and qualified returning subscribers who purchase iPhone Duo can unlock three months of Apple One for free.
