Uber rolls out ChatGPT Work to 30,000 employees
Uber is making ChatGPT Work available across its global workforce after an initial pilot involving 1,000 employees. The OpenAI agent is designed to handle complex, multi-step tasks inside ChatGPT Enterprise.

Company-wide rollout
Uber has announced a company-wide rollout of ChatGPT Work, an agent available within ChatGPT Enterprise that is designed to help employees handle a broad range of tasks. The expansion will make the platform available to more than 30,000 employees across Uber’s global workforce.
The rollout follows an initial pilot involving 1,000 employees and represents Uber’s first company-wide deployment of an agentic platform tailored to knowledge work, according to OpenAI. The companies said the system is intended to take on complex, multi-step assignments and deliver finished work rather than only provide individual answers.
Connected workplace tools
ChatGPT Work can connect with tools that Uber employees use in their daily work, including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. These connections are intended to let teams gather information, coordinate across applications and complete workflows without treating each task as an isolated interaction.
The platform will support activities such as researching information, preparing meeting briefs, creating presentations and analyzing data. OpenAI described the rollout as a way for teams to use an agentic platform across multiple steps of a task, with the aim of producing completed work for employees to review and use.

Models and multimodal capabilities
As part of the arrangement, Uber will have access to OpenAI’s portfolio of frontier models through ChatGPT Work. GPT‑6.1 Sol will be deployed as the platform’s default capability, with OpenAI describing the model as a balance between frontier performance and cost efficiency.
Uber teams will also be able to use OpenAI’s multimodal capabilities, including voice and image generation. The company said this will give employees flexibility to select different models and tools for different requirements, while keeping those capabilities available through the broader ChatGPT Work deployment.

Training and internal support
The expansion will be supported by an internal AI skills library, approved integrations and dedicated employee training. Those resources are intended to help teams across Uber functions including operations, finance, marketing and product apply the technology to their work.
The rollout therefore combines access to the platform with internal guidance on how employees can use it. OpenAI said the support structure will help teams put ChatGPT Work into practice across different functions as availability expands beyond the original pilot group.
Broader OpenAI partnership
Uber’s developers and software engineering teams will continue using Codex to accelerate software development and streamline coding workflows. That use remains separate from the broader employee rollout, which focuses on knowledge-work tasks across the company.
The deployment is another step in Uber’s broader AI strategy and its collaboration with OpenAI. The companies said they plan to share additional insights into adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as the rollout progresses.
