App Store Indie Games Week Kicks Off With Seven Debuts

Celebrating Independent Creativity on the App Store

Today marks the official kickoff of App Store Indie Games Week, a dedicated celebration honoring the imaginative catalog of games crafted by independent development teams. Throughout the week, the App Store will spotlight these independent releases through daily features and curated collections designed to help players discover their next mobile adventure.

According to Carson Oliver, Apple’s head of App Store Worldwide, independent developers continually push the boundaries of creativity to deliver unique experiences to Apple users. Whether games originate from solo creators or growing studios, the platform aims to provide a global stage that transforms daring visions into worldwide hits.

High-Profile Indie Debuts Bring New Genres to Mobile

The week-long celebration features seven highly acclaimed indie games that are either available for download or pre-order on iPhone and iPad. Among the notable arrivals is Sifu, a stylish third-person brawler that puts cinematic combat front and center as players guide a young kung fu student along a path of revenge.

Adapted specifically for mobile devices, Sifu arrives with custom-tuned touch controls, a reworked camera system, and full controller support. The intense battles require players to parry strikes, execute chained combos, and utilize surrounding objects in order to survive simultaneous enemy attacks.

Card Battles and Space Exploration Arrive on iOS

For players seeking quick tactical strategy combined with dark humor, Vampire Crawlers offers a gothic card-battling experience. Acting as a spin-off to the popular Vampire Survivors, this title trades bullet-dodging mechanics for deck-building strategy as players conquer dungeon runs, uncover secret relics, and experiment with card combinations.

Additionally, Hello Games' expansive space odyssey No Man’s Sky is scheduled to make its mobile debut on iPhone and iPad on October 28. The release will incorporate every major content expansion released to date, allowing players to explore a procedurally generated universe and command space stations directly from their mobile devices.
