Spotify Launches Podcast Memberships for Creator Perks
Spotify is introducing a Patreon-style membership system across 34 regions, giving podcast creators new ways to monetize exclusive content while keeping a substantial share of the revenue.

Spotify Introduces Creator Memberships
Spotify is enabling podcast creators to earn more money through the platform by providing their fans with a way to pay to access exclusive content. First announced [in May](https://creators.spotify.com/resources/investor-day-2026#:~:text=Coming%20soon%3A%20Memberships), the new Memberships subscription feature is starting to roll out in 34 regions today, allowing podcasters to offer perks including additional content, early access, bonus episodes, and reduced ads behind a paywall.
Users can find Memberships on a podcast’s Spotify page, with the ability to subscribe, pay, and access the exclusive benefits in just a few taps. Podcast creators can set their pricing options and bundle benefits across multiple subscription tiers while keeping 90 percent of membership revenue.

Patreon-Style Features and Community Tools
The platform provides podcasters with tools to analyze and build their Memberships audience, including targeted promotions and free trial offers, alongside community engagement features like member badges, welcome clips, and more. This structure makes the feature function similarly to a Patreon-style membership system where fans can choose to give additional support to their favorite creators.
This offering is distinct from the [podcast subscription feature](https://www.theverge.com/2021/4/27/22404273/spotify-podcast-subscriptions-monetize-subscriber-shows) that Spotify introduced in 2021. Podcasters can utilize Memberships alongside other platform revenue streams, such as ads and the Spotify Partner Program.

According to reporting by [9to5Google](https://9to5google.com/2026/10/20/spotify-podcast-memberships-let-you-support-your-favorite-shows-and-get-added-perks/), the initial rollout includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.

Qualification Requirements and Open Access
To qualify for Memberships, shows must be hosted on Spotify for Creators or Megaphone, maintain at least 100 consumption hours, have 100 listeners or viewers, and feature three published episodes.
Spotify is also simplifying the process for podcasters who already manage their subscriptions on alternate services by letting them bring paywalled content over via its [Open Access feature](https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/open-access).
