Germany and NVIDIA Partner to Lead in Industrial AI
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang met in Berlin to discuss an ambitious roadmap aimed at making Germany a global leader in industrial artificial intelligence.

A Strategic Roadmap for Industrial AI in Germany
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang convened at Kraftwerk, a former power station in Berlin, to discuss the country's AI roadmap with a heavy emphasis on industrial applications. According to the NVIDIA Blog, Huang detailed NVIDIA's long history with German industry, which began with gaming systems and automotive design in the early 2000s and has evolved into autonomous vehicle development and digital manufacturing twins.
The conversation highlighted how Germany can leverage its core strengths in manufacturing and automotive sectors. Leaders emphasized encouraging widespread AI adoption across the country's network of small and medium-sized companies to drive future economic growth and technological integration.
Government Agreements and the Mittelstand Advantage
Earlier in the day, as part of the Invest in Germany Summit, Chancellor Merz alongside the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space signed a Joint Declaration of Intent with NVIDIA. The federal government aims to merge traditional German engineering with cutting-edge research to build advanced models for physical AI.
Chancellor Merz highlighted the nation's unique economic backbone, the Mittelstand, urging business leaders to unlock their proprietary data. Huang reinforced this point, noting that national expertise and knowledge cannot be replaced by machines, but rather augmented by new technological instruments.
New NVIDIA Investments in German Startups
As part of a nearly $10 billion European commitment by NVIDIA to support research institutions, universities, and technology companies, Huang announced fresh investments in four German startups. These include Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo, and Reflex Aerospace. Previously, NVIDIA has also backed local innovators such as n8n, Neura Robotics, and Black Forest Labs.
The newly backed companies span diverse high-tech sectors. Munich-based Agile Robots produces AI-powered robotics like the Agile ONE humanoid for manufacturing and healthcare. Avelios Medical develops an AI-native hospital information system. Mirelo creates generative AI audio models for video production, while Berlin-based Reflex Aerospace builds high-performance satellites.
Industrial Demonstrations and Quantum Supercomputing
Industrial applications were further highlighted as Siemens partnered with NVIDIA to advance autonomous, AI-driven factories. Siemens showcased new AI solutions at its Erlangen factory, illustrating how virtual production ramp-ups can reduce engineering effort by up to 85 percent and achieve cost savings through agent-based production planning.
Additionally, NVIDIA researchers utilized JUPITER—Europe's largest supercomputer located at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre—to run a record-breaking simulation of a fault-tolerant quantum computer, marking a major milestone for high-performance scientific computing.
