Apple Announces New iPad Mini with OLED and A20 Pro
Apple has revealed its most capable iPad mini yet, introducing a thinner design, a larger OLED display, and a major performance boost.

The Biggest Update Ever for iPad Mini
Apple has officially announced the all-new iPad mini, delivering what the company calls its biggest update ever for the popular compact tablet. According to the Apple Newsroom announcement, the device combines a substantially thinner and lighter profile with advanced technologies like an OLED display, the A20 Pro chip, and built-in water and dust resistance.
Dave Pakula, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering, highlighted the broad appeal of the device. "iPad mini is beloved for its fantastic portability, performance, and display by a wide range of users, from creators and small business owners to doctors, field service workers, and gamers," Pakula stated. He added that the new generation represents a massive leap forward for users seeking a full tablet experience in a highly portable form factor.

Stunning OLED Display and Thinner Design
Measuring just 5.4 mm thin, the new tablet is more portable than ever before and comes in two new finishes: midnight and starlight. For the first time, the device incorporates an IP67 water and dust resistance rating, making it ideal for outdoor work or reading in various environments.
The device features a larger 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display while maintaining the same physical footprint as the previous generation due to 24 percent thinner bezels. The screen delivers pixel-level lighting control, a P3 wide color gamut, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits—more than double the brightness of its predecessor. Additionally, Apple is offering an optional nano-texture display configuration to help reduce glare in bright outdoor settings.

A20 Pro Performance and iPadOS 27
Under the hood, the device is powered by the A20 Pro chip, which supercharges artificial intelligence workloads via Neural Accelerators in each GPU core and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. This processing leap is paired with iPadOS 27, introducing the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI capabilities. The intelligent assistant can leverage personal context to answer complex questions and understand on-screen content.
Further enhancing the user experience, the device includes an innovative Acoustic Display for improved audio output, a 12MP Center Stage front camera positioned on the landscape edge, and faster wireless and cellular connectivity alongside fast-charging support.
