Meta Introduces AI Fashion App Style Sketch for Virtual Try-Ons
Meta has quietly introduced a new artificial intelligence fashion app called Style Sketch, currently rolling out with limited availability in select regions.

Quiet Regional Release
Meta has released yet another artificial intelligence application with limited regional availability, focusing its initial rollout on parts of Asia. Following previous software experiments like the Tamagotchi-like digital pet game Waddle World in the Philippines, the tech giant has introduced an AI-powered fashion app called Style Sketch in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, available on both Android and iOS platforms.
The existence of the new fashion planning application was initially brought to light when it was reported by social media consultant Matt Navarra on the social media platform X. The early rollout highlights how the corporation continues to test niche utility applications within specific geographic test beds before scaling them more broadly.
Building a Virtual Closet
Style Sketch functions by establishing a digital repository of a user's wardrobe. The application can seamlessly connect to a user's Facebook and Instagram accounts to automatically build a virtual closet from photographs previously shared across social media networks. Alternatively, users who prefer not to link their social media profiles can manually upload existing photographs from their device camera roll or snap brand-new pictures of individual clothing items.
Once the digital wardrobe is established, users can generate coordinated outfit combinations based on the pieces they own. The platform allows individuals to select specific items to build surrounding outfits, input local weather conditions for the day, or request tailored outfit plans for upcoming trips and travel itineraries.

Virtual Try-On Capabilities
Beyond basic wardrobe organization, Style Sketch incorporates virtual try-on technology. Users can test different clothing combinations directly on a virtual model configured to match their specific body type and skin tone. This gives shoppers and fashion enthusiasts a preliminary look at how various garments pair together without physically trying them on.
Broader Strategy and Industry Context
The rapid deployment of these specialized utilities aligns with broader corporate strategy. As noted in coverage by TechCrunch, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg stated earlier this year that the company is actively releasing a higher volume of standalone applications because advancements in artificial intelligence have made software development significantly faster and cheaper. Furthermore, these consumer-facing applications help the company gather valuable usage data to further train its underlying AI systems.
Meta is far from alone in targeting the virtual fashion space with artificial intelligence. Competitors have rolled out similar capabilities over recent cycles. Google's AI Search integrated a virtual clothes try-on feature starting in 2025, and Google Photos added a dedicated wardrobe cataloging feature earlier this year. Additionally, OpenAI recently introduced functionality within ChatGPT allowing users to upload personal photos and clothing images to visualize how items look on them.
