Anthropic Launches New Tools to Show ROI on AI Spending
As frontier AI labs work to prove the value of enterprise deployments, Anthropic has introduced reporting features and pooled budgets to track customer returns.

New Reporting Suite for Enterprise Customers
Ahead of a planned initial public offering, artificial intelligence lab <a href="https://techcrunch.com/tag/anthropic/">Anthropic</a> has rolled out a new suite of reporting tools tailored for enterprise customers. The features are designed to provide organizations with a clearer, more granular understanding of the value they receive from their token expenditures.
According to the company, the tools utilize a combination of internal analytics and employee surveys. Managers can review a team's work over a specified date range, examine what was produced, evaluate how much the process cost, and identify where workflows encountered disruptions. Additionally, the system delivers recommendations on how to improve overall results.
Anthropic has emphasized that the data processed through these new reports will not be used for model training by default. Alongside the analytics features, the company is introducing pooled group budgets to help teams better control and manage their token spending.
Addressing Return on Investment Concerns
The introduction of these analytics tools represents a direct effort by Anthropic to demonstrate the return on investment of its products and guide customers on optimization. Proving financial value has become a major concern among large organizations as they navigate enterprise deployments of <a href="https://techcrunch.com/category/artificial-intelligence/">AI</a> technology.
While usage among venture-backed firms continues to drive heavy token spending, the broader landscape reveals that most Fortune 500 companies are not yet observing major financial gains from deploying artificial intelligence solutions. Business leaders have actively sought out metrics and insights to determine how best to allocate and justify these budgets.
Insights From the Software Development Sector
Recent data highlights the rapid acceleration of spending on agentic coding tools. A report released by Jellyfish based on the usage patterns of 276,000 customers found that tools built on Anthropic models—including Claude Code—remain the most widely utilized in the sector, accounting for nearly a third of all proposed code changes submitted for review.
The Jellyfish study noted that spending on these coding tools has multiplied tenfold since the start of the year, with total costs now amounting to approximately 2% of overall engineering budgets. Nicholas Arcolano, chief scientist at Jellyfish, noted that while 2% may appear modest, such rapid growth caught many corporate chief financial officers off guard, pushing organizations toward optimization.
Enterprise Retention and Market Competition
Despite competitive pressures from rival models such as OpenAI's Astra, Anthropic has maintained robust enterprise adoption numbers. Industry experts point out that Anthropic's strong enterprise motions, dependable performance, and deeply integrated customer workflows have established an incumbent weight that makes switching systems difficult.
Furthermore, major AI labs have increasingly invested in forward-deployed engineering teams—consultants embedded directly inside customer organizations to help set up initial workflows. Anthropic's new reporting and analytics suite functions similarly to a lighter, self-service iteration of that hands-on support, providing another mechanism to encourage <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/26/anthropics-ipo-filing-reveals-its-strategy-for-keeping-enterprise-customers-hooked/">enterprise users to stick around</a>.
