Gmail's Live AI Search Arrives for Subscribers
Google is officially launching its conversational Gmail Live search feature, moving the tool out of beta following its initial introduction.

Gmail Live Debuts for Subscribers
Gmail's search capabilities have long been viewed as basic and sometimes frustrating for users, but Google is officially smartening up the platform with the official release. Following its recent beta testing period, the new tool was first announced during Google I/O, as detailed in a prior Engadget report on the Google Gmail Live AI feature is now available in beta.
The newly rolled out Gmail Live feature enables users to search through their email inboxes using conversational voice commands. According to Google, this functionality operates similarly to live voice chats with the Gemini chatbot, but it is specifically customized for core productivity apps including Gmail, Docs, and Drive, with each application receiving its own tailored version of the capability.
Finding Inbox Details Through Conversation
The primary goal of Gmail Live is to help users find specific details buried deep inside emails without needing to dig through endless message threads. Google explains that users can utilize conversational queries to quickly locate information by asking practical questions such as 'What's my flight's gate number?' or 'What's going on at my kid's school this week?'
Once a voice prompt is entered, Gmail Live immediately scans the user's inbox and provides answers rapidly. Further information regarding the rollout and platform updates can be found directly through Google's official release notes covering voice features across workspace applications.

Expanding to Docs Live and Keep Live
In addition to the updates coming to email search, similar conversational functionality is expanding to documents and notes through Docs Live and Keep Live. Docs Live allows users to instruct Gemini on what kind of document they want to create, pulling relevant details dynamically from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the broader web to build a structured first draft.
Meanwhile, Keep Live is designed to transform raw brain dumps into organized notes. While the Keep application is traditionally used for quick thoughts before they are forgotten, Keep Live is engineered to capture, structure, and refine ideas into actionable lists and notes entirely through background voice processing.
Rollout Schedule and Subscriber Tiers
The new live voice capabilities are currently rolling out this week for Gmail and Keep users. However, access is strictly limited to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, while the Docs Live functionality is restricted exclusively to Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google has also confirmed that all of these newly introduced voice features are coming soon for Google Workspace business customers, bringing advanced conversational organization to enterprise environments as well.
