Performance Enhancements Across the Toolchain

The Oxc React Compiler, released in August, represents a major rewrite of the React compiler based on the React team's rewrite in Rust. It delivers 10x faster compile times for React.js applications compared to the previous Babel implementation, uses significantly less memory, and provides a more complete implementation with superior error handling. When paired with Vite, developers can enable the compiler via the oxc-transform-react package and the compiler flag for substantially quicker builds.

Vitest 5, launched in September, achieves up to 50% faster test execution than Vitest 4 through several key optimizations. The runner shares transformed files across projects, caches modules on disk, and reduces data transfer between its main process and worker threads. Additional features include vitest doctor for breaking down setup, import, transform, and test phases, trace view for recording browser interactions, conditional mocks with vi.when, and improved benchmark reporting.

tsgolint is now stable and provides type-aware linting 12 to 18 times faster than ESLint in large codebases. The engine supports 59 of typescript-eslint's 61 type-aware rules, combining efficient static analysis with TypeScript diagnostics. Its design enables one-pass linting and type-checking by sharing a single TypeScript program across both tasks, eliminating redundant analyses.

Oxfmt's JSON, CSS, SCSS, Less, GraphQL, and YAML formatters have been rewritten entirely in Rust, making the tool 7x faster than Prettier while preserving Prettier-compatible output and familiar ergonomics. This performance boost stems from Rust's memory safety guarantees and parallel processing capabilities, allowing rapid formatting of complex configuration files.

Unified Development Experience with Vite+

Progress is being made toward shipping 'Bundled Dev' (Full Bundle Mode), a new development environment that leverages Vite's production bundler during local development. This approach accelerates larger applications by minimizing start-up latency and reducing network overhead when working with remote sandboxes. Early adopters, including Cloudflare's own dashboard, are already benefiting from this unified development workflow.

Vite+ is now at version 1.0, representing a unified and fast toolchain that consolidates all VoidZero components into a single package. The bundle includes Vite 8, Vitest 5, Rolldown, Oxlint, and Oxfmt with built-in task caching. This streamlined distribution simplifies dependency management and ensures consistent behavior across development and production environments.
