Cities Scale Physical and Agentic AI Services With NVIDIA

Local governments and technology partners around the globe are utilizing NVIDIA physical and agentic AI solutions to transform massive operational data streams into actionable public services, infrastructure planning, and municipal intelligence.

Bridging the Data Gap with Physical and Agentic AI

Cities generate enormous amounts of data from cameras, sensors, and operational systems, yet turning that information into useful actions for planning, maintenance, and public services remains a significant hurdle. Building on initiatives announced at GTC Berlin, NVIDIA and its ecosystem partners are expanding physical AI and AI agents to cities worldwide.

By utilizing shared computing infrastructure, city departments, neighboring municipalities, and local developers gain a common foundation to build upon. This approach allows local governments to extend services while maintaining control over how sensitive data is processed and used, without requiring every single organization to acquire and manage its own separate resources.

Enhancing Resident Services Through Conversational and Vision Agents

From resident services to vision agents, municipalities are adopting NVIDIA agentic AI to deliver faster and more responsive public services. City teams can initiate these deployments without massive infrastructure investments, as NVIDIA RTX workstations or compact GPU systems are often sufficient depending on the specific workload.

In Spain, 1MillionBot combines open-source ALIA models—trained at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center—with NVIDIA Nemotron and other models to power resident-service agents for Madrid Digital, Administració Oberta de Catalunya, and more than 150 deployments across the country. These agents handle municipal procedures, appointment requests, urban-planning incidents, and service inquiries.

Meanwhile, in the San Francisco Bay Area, LiveX is bringing its AI City vision to life utilizing NVIDIA Cosmos world models, Nemotron open models, and Omniverse and Metropolis libraries running on NVIDIA RTX PRO GPUs. These interactive, conversational AI hosts understand people's needs, answer questions, and take action in airports, hospitals, local events, and public spaces.

Transforming Camera Streams Into Actionable Intelligence

Vision AI agents enable local teams to turn existing city camera feeds into operational insights, helping coordinators identify mobility and safety issues while improving emergency responses across city services.

In Wrocław, Poland, K2K is building shared AI infrastructure using NVIDIA accelerated computing, NVIDIA Cosmos world reasoning models, and the Metropolis Blueprint for video search and summarization. This configuration transforms standard camera streams into actionable intelligence for mobility, safety, and event response across several municipal functions.

In Malaysia, ITMAX bundles infrastructure and agentic AI applications into long-term managed services for traffic management and other municipal needs. ITMAX's SamurAI V2 vision agents are scaling on NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 GPUs to support over 17,000 cameras by 2027, integrating an open-source traffic simulation platform from Laplace Intelligence to reduce peak-hour corridor travel times by up to 26%.

Planning and Operating Critical Infrastructure With Digital Twins

Beyond public-facing conversational tools, digital twins help cities expedite infrastructure planning while minimizing community disruptions. These virtual models also function as real-time operational simulations to facilitate faster, data-driven decision-making.

At Dangote’s Lekki refinery in Nigeria, Honeywell Technologies’ Forge Plant Cognition uses Nemotron-powered AI agents to interpret operational data. A digital twin of the plant and its processes built using Omniverse libraries is also planned to support simulation and training, helping operators identify bottlenecks and optimize performance.

In Taiwan, Linker Vision and architecture firm MVRDV are employing NVIDIA Omniverse and Nemotron to build environmental, social, and governance agents that assess urban planning scenarios. These tools can simulate 15-year outcomes of an urban forest canopy in just 10 minutes, drastically accelerating design iteration speed.

Scaling Sovereign AI Factories and Accelerating Startups

Municipalities continue to extend AI capabilities by leveraging existing infrastructure and adding new capacity. At Morocco’s Tanger Med port, Cires Technologies is expanding a sovereign AI factory intended for worker safety, congestion analysis, cargo routing, and port operations, while also building an ecosystem of application providers for local models.

Additionally, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center’s AI Factory Accelerator Programme provides startups with sovereign computing access, technical support, and training. The program supports research and innovation across agriculture, medical imaging, knowledge access, and speech services.

These global deployments and technological ecosystems are being showcased at the Smart City Expo World Congress, where NVIDIA executives including Vice President of EMEA Paolo Guglielmini are scheduled to deliver a keynote address.
